Working in multiple industries gives you more tools in your toolbag and more toolbags in your shop.
I remembered when I was a kid, when my parents put a pencil and paper in front of memy favorite time of day was when I was drawing, painting and of course taking things apart and building something new. As I got older, this love never faded and eventually lead me to the Entertainment Industry. It taught me the necessary skills and techniques to bring Concept to Reality.
Working in to Entertainment Industry and Stop Motion Animation for a good 2 decades I've gathered a well rounded set of skills to see a project through from concept phase to a finish product. A lot of projects require on the fly and real world problem solving. Others show you material limitations and when it comes to quantity, straight diligence keeps you going to the very end. One thing about problem solving and pipelines, if you can anticipate workflow, you can prep your work for the next person down the line and that can save a lot of time and money.
One of the most important thing about this Industry and most others, is that your working on a team of really talented and highly skilled individuals. I've organized my scope of work to different categories or projects.
Working in many different types on mediums, such as model making, miniature set building, composites, furniture design, and dimensional sculpting helps to see a different perspectives and find multiple solutions. I believe that working in a single medium is quite restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style and form.

In the beginning, one's conceptual mind is very blurry until you start to focus on curtain areas of interest. When you journey from the begin of first thought, you got to push pause on your VCR and walk around then start to focus onto a design.
Some good insights in the mind of Dan. Some are just drawings of the day and others are multi-media creations.
Gives you a up close and personal experience unlike film or TV you get to walk through the artwork and feel the moment.
It's one thing to build props out of plastic, it's a whole other world to finish a masterpiece in wood.
